A 3-Day Lake Wallenpaupack Summer Weekend Itinerary

The question we hear most from people planning a trip here: What would we actually do for a whole weekend?

The answer is: more than you'd expect, at a pace you didn't know you needed.

Here's a 3-day summer weekend itinerary for Lake Wallenpaupack - with versions for families, couples, and friend groups so you can adapt it to your trip.

Friday: Arrive, Exhale, Light the Fire

For everyone:

Get in, unpack, and don't make any plans for tonight. Wooosaaahhhh.

Stop at a local spot for easy takeout or pick up groceries on the way in. The cabin has a full kitchen and a stocked coffee bar. Once you're settled, you can take a dip in the pool - just a short walk away. Then light up the grill and fire pit and enjoy the night in the peaceful, wooded backyard. And yes, Bambi and Pepe le Peu may walk by, it’s the great outdoors.

Note for kids: The shed is loaded with outdoor toys and bikes of all sizes so the kids can burn their energy without you having to go anywhere or worry about them - the street is perfectly quiet.

Saturday: The Big Day

Family Version

Morning: Head to Beyond Bagels for coffee and breakfast before anyone gets hungry and cranky. Then straight to Claws 'N' Paws Wild Animal Park down the street - plan for 2–3 hours.

Afternoon: Back to the cabin for pool time. The kiddie pool is enclosed and just steps from the house. Let the kids swim it out and feel free to bring some pool toys too, we often play “keep it up” and dive for rings.

Evening: If you’re still rearing to go, head to Costa's Family Fun Park in Hawley for go-karts, mini-golf, and Hershey's ice cream. Everyone will sleep like a rock, but hey, you packed it in!

Couples Version

Morning: Slow coffee on the deck. No alarm. Beyond Bagels when you're ready.

Afternoon: Book a pontoon through Pocono Action Sports and spend either a half or full day on the lake. Pack a cooler. Lake Wallenpaupack is 5,700 acres -it’ll take you at least 30 min to get from one side to the other and you'll find a couple little islands you can dock on.

If you do a half day on the lake, head over to Why Not Stables for a relaxing horseback ride (be sure to call ahead).

Evening: Wallenpaupack Brewing Company for dinner and drinks on the outdoor patio. Then back to the cabin, fire pit, and whatever you'd like the night to be.

Friend Group Version

Morning: Beyond Bagels run. Everyone picks their own bagel. It works.

Afternoon: A boat day on Lake Wallenpaupack with your people is genuinely hard to beat. We usually do a full day and pack a few coolers. The water is so clean, even those of us that don’t love swimming in lakes will jump in.

Evening: Wallenpaupack Brewing Company, then bowling at Wallenpaupack Bowling and Sports Center - 7 minutes from the brewery. The bar and bowling combo will surprise you with how late it goes.

Sunday: Slow Morning, One More Thing

Family Version

Slow breakfast at the cabin. Then Why Not Stables for horseback riding - a nice calm Sunday activity that feels special.

Couples Version

Coffee on the deck. Walk down to the community lake inlet. Maybe kayak for an hour. After checkout, head Honesdale or Hawley for lunch and a stroll, browse the antique shops, then head home.

Friend Group Version

Leftover fire pit from the night before probably went late, so: slow start, cabin breakfast, and if anyone has energy, a scenic drive through Hawley and Honesdale, grab one last coffee, then head home.

This is exactly the kind of weekend we had in mind when we set up the cabin - easy mornings, lake days, and quiet nights. Request Your Dates if you want to use CnC Hideaway as your home base.
