Lake Wallenpaupack Adult Weekend: The Low-Key Getaway Guide for Couples and Friend Groups

Not every Poconos trip requires a waterpark or a packed schedule. Some of the best ones involve a slow morning, an afternoon on the water, a brewery, and a fire pit that nobody wants to leave.

This one's for the couples who want a genuine reset, and the friend groups who want a weekend that feels like the trip you keep saying you're going to plan.

Start with a slow morning - actually slow.

One of the underrated benefits of a cabin over a hotel: you can wake up at your own pace, make coffee, sit on the deck, and watch deer wander through the yard without anyone rushing you to vacate for housekeeping. We keep the cabin stocked with a coffee bar for exactly this reason.

Take your time. Beyond Bagels is right up the street when you're ready. Or if you prefer iHop, it’s less then 10 min away.

A boat day on Lake Wallenpaupack

Whether you're a couple wanting a peaceful afternoon or a group who wants to make a full day of it - rent a pontoon through Pocono Action Sports and get out on the lake. 5,700 acres of open water, mountain views, bald eagles, room to anchor and swim. It's the kind of thing that resets something in you.

Book ahead for summer weekends. July and August fill fast.

Wallenpaupack Brewing Company

Great outdoor seating, good craft beer, solid food, and the kind of relaxed vibe where an hour turns into three. For friend groups especially, this is usually where the real conversation happens. For couples, it's an easy, unpretentious dinner.

Bowling - yes, actually

The Wallenpaupack Bowling and Sports Center is in Hawley- about 7 minutes from the brewery. This combo (brewery to bowling) has become a low-key staple for friend groups staying at the cabin. It's fun, it's easy, it doesn't require anyone to be "into bowling." Bonus: it's a natural rainy day backup if the weather turns.

Honesdale and Hawley: the towns worth an afternoon

If your group wants to wander, both Hawley and Honesdale reward a slow stroll. Antique shops, boutiques, coffee, lake-view dining. Hawley has the Hawley Antique Exchange if anyone's into that; Honesdale has a nice small-town main street energy. Neither town is trying too hard. That's part of what makes the whole area feel like the Poconos that locals know.

The Lodge at Woodloch - if you want a spa day and a scenic ride

About 40 minutes from the cabin, The Lodge at Woodloch is an adults-only luxury spa resort with full treatments, indoor pool, gardens, and a genuinely beautiful setting. It's become a staple for girls' weekends in the area. If your group wants a full spa day built into the trip, book treatments in advance.

Horseback Riding at Why-Not Riding Stable

If your group is into something a little different: horseback riding through the Pocono Mountains. Not everyone thinks of this for an adult weekend, but it's a great late-morning activity - beautiful scenery, easy pace, memorable.

The firepit finale

Whatever the day looks like, most nights at the cabin end the same way: fire pit, drinks, no agenda. The string lights are up, the Adirondack chairs are out, and there's nowhere to be. Some guests call it the best part of the whole trip.

CnC Hideaway isn't a luxury resort, and that's kind of the point. It's quiet, wooded, relaxed, and close enough to the lake and the towns that your weekend plans themselves. Request Your Dates.
